The park next to our hose flooded after the storm so we decided to take the kayaks out for a spin.

Distance your Self 1

I have found that when working on photos it helps to some times distance your self from the emotions and ideas to had when you shot them. So after you shoot go shooting indead of sitting down and going to edit them right away stick the photos in s folder or on a CD and don’t even look at them for a few months. Then after adquite time has passed edit them and be verry harsh on your self don’t be affraid to thow most of the photos away, only keep the best of the best, even if that means tossing 90% of them away, Just do it don’t be afraid. When your done the resulting edit will be much stronger than one that you would have done right after you took the photos.

Some of the expetations you might have are:

You were really trying for one thing but it didn’t turn out and because you are editing the photos right after you still have that vision of what it should have looked like in your head.

Some times you might stumble on a golden egg, often times you just get an accidental awesome photo, you just clicked the button and the stars aliged and BAM it was a great photo some times when editing right away, you might be thinking about the photos you really were trying to get somthing from and possibly ignore that amazing photo thats just under your nose. I have done this a few times where I will be looking through old shoots and stumble upon a photo that I never really gave a second glance, and it turns out to be an amazing photo and I ask my self did I take that?

Some times you will be trying to catch a certain moment but it just gets away from you, when editing you will still have that moment in your head and you will likey keep the photos that were really just junk because you really wish that you got that special moment, and the ones that you have remind you of that moment even though they suck. You didn’t get the shot so better luck next time and just trash the bad ones.

I have been experimenting with this for a about a year and a half now. Its really freeing and I love the little surprises that I get. You can check out my gallery called RAW for the photos under this experiment.

My Safari Tops Sites

#1 Guide 2 Games forms – I am the admin here and keep the technical side of the Guide 2 Games community running, I visit the forums frequently even if I dont post often.

#2 Guide 2 Games – Again I work on this site a lot posting new reviews, editing submitted ones, and approving submitted comments.

#3 Google Groups – I have a couple of news groups that visit frequently, with some great posts on sailing.

#4 Flickr – Keeping up to date with friends photos and exploring the amazing number of submitted photos.

#5 Friend Feed – I just recently started using this I don’t really have any close friends who use it, but its fun to use.

#6 My Deviant art Profile – I am always checking to see if I have any new comments or replies on DA. I try to leave a lot of critiques on photos, even though I rarely receive any in return.

#7 Twitter – Oh twitter, I don’t use the web site all that much because I read most tweets on my iphone or desktop app, but I guess I use it enough to have it on my top sites.

#8 Lite.Facebook.Com – I prefer the lite version of Facebook no bloated ajax effects and no dumb apps cluttering up the stream, just status update, photos and notes.

#9 Instapaper – Probably my all time favorite website in the world. Lets you clip stuff we want to read later and saves it on a list so you don’t get distracted while working.

#10 Google Maps – I like to find new places around the Valley so I surf google maps often, its really handy when trying to find new places to skate or cool places to photograph at. Street View is an indispensable tool.

#11 Grand View Photography – My website and blog, what can I say I like to look at it. Its so beautiful!

#12 PixelPipe – Great tool for uploading photos to multiple websites. I recently figured out how to upload to my Mobile me gallery from Lightroom using pixel pipe. This makes me Very Happy.
